Hi, we are The Award Winning Team who make Claire's Comfy Canine's possible.

As people who are passionate about dogs, we know how important it is to make sure your dog get’s the care, attention and love it deserves when you aren’t around to provide it.

I set up Claire’s Comfy Canines for one reason - I love dogs (well all animals really) and I believe I can provide the high standard of care your dog needs when you aren’t around, but also with a professional service so you can rely on us when you need to.

I have owned and cared for dogs, horses, pigs, cats, chickens and various other animals my whole life so you can be sure your dog is being left with someone who understands them and will provide them with the best care and plenty of love.

Here is an opportunity to find out a bit about the people who make this all possible. But if you would like to know more then please just ask.

Training & development

To ensure we have the very best team caring for your dog, all our team are sent to canine first aid training in their first 3 months of employment.

During every year we also arrange for at least one external training session with a specialist trainer. In recent years we have done gun dog training, scent workshops, Tellington Touch and dog body language. Finally the team also have their own CPD trackers. They are motivated with rewards for each set of 5 new entries they make.

Hi, I am Claire

Founder, Owner and Managing Director

I live with my husband Tom, son Archie, Bertha our Chocolate lab and Patsy our Patterpoo.

Although I have had many dogs and horses my whole life, my passion for dogs started when my husband and I decided to get our first dog together.

We picked up Belle, our first English Bull Terrier when she was 12 weeks old and we were both smitten immediately.

It was when we decided we needed a dog walker once a week that I realised I couldn't trust anyone with my dog and also didn't want to leave her when I was at work.

Looking back 15 years ago it seems mad that I decided to leave a fantastic career in recruitment to walk dogs for a living. But a decision I will never regret.

Soon after I started dog walking, I knew I wanted to offer dog owners, like me, something better for their dogs but it took a while to put the plan in place and eventually "Doggy Day Care" was born. A safe and secure place where dogs are supervised all day and their owners can go to work in the knowledge their beloved dogs will be here, happy and content when they pick them up.My specific interests lie within dog nutrition and I am constantly speaking with manufacturers, nutritionists and suppliers to broaden my horizons and knowledge. So if you have any questions or concerns relating to your dogs diet please don't hesitate to ask.

I have been priviledge to offer guidance to DEFRA on the new animal activities licensing which came into force in 2018.
I am a graduate of the IMDT and have a level 3 qualification in Professional Day Care and Boarding.

Hi I’m Laura!

General Manager

Previously I was working as a Health club Manager and Personal Trainer for the Hilton hotel, however when an opportunity arrived with Claire I jumped at the chance. I have always loved dogs and enjoyed training my own dog in agility and field dog trials.

Working a lot with trainers to help raise my first beautiful but very naughty Labrador Puppy called Poppy. I learnt that the best way to help raise and keep a well mannered dog was to give them plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, be very patient with them and to both have lots of fun! All of which happens every day at Claires Comfy Canines and I absolutely love being a part of it.

My role as General Manager covers many things, including planning and running play time, providing important feedback to owners, managing bookings and the on-going job of making sure our facility is kept clean and smelling lovely.
Laura is a Certified Dog Trainer from the Dog Training College (DTC) with a level 4 Dog Trainer Certification also attended level 5 & 6 coaching calls, she also has a Level 3 in Professional Daycare and Boarding from the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers.

Hi I’m Gemma

Dog Handler & PAWs

After completing Uniformed Public Service at college I set up my own business childminding for 3 years covering the early years foundation stage required by OFSTED.

I knew my love for animals had to be part of my career so moved on to a Kennels and Cattery with hydrotherapy and grooming.

Since then I could not refuse an opportunity to join Claire's Comfy Canines and the lovely team in which my previous experiences both professionally and personally have been a great fit in the values here.

My love for animals started when I was very young, having everything from snails and stick insects to chipmunks and cats.

But my real passion for dogs started when we bought home our first puppy, Lola, a Japanese Shiba Inu.

Since then we have added two more to our family and have spent most of my spare time training, grooming and attending dog shows and have been lucky enough to qualifying for Crufts the last few years.

I enjoy furthering my education about dogs and have completed 50 Points of the Dog, Stewarding and Conformation and Movement and I am currently studying a Level 3 accredited Canine Behaviour Diploma from British College of Canine Studies. I am also interested in dog law.

My love of dogs comes from having my own dogs for the past 27 years. I have had 2 Border Collies and currently have a Cockerpoo.

I have worked in an office environment for most of my working life but for the past 3 1/2 years I have worked at Doggy Daycare. I love working with dogs and enjoy getting to know their individual personalities and needs. The best part is having fun and bonding with them and all the cuddles and affection I receive in return so when a chance to work at Claire's arose I jumped at it.

From a young age I have always wanted to work with animals, but my love for dogs grew when we rescued our family dog, Freddie, a border collie.

I studied Animal Management Level 3 extended diploma at Berkshire College of Agriculture and I am currently completing a course in Dog Training with the Centre of Excellence.

When the job opportunity came up at Claire’s Comfy Canines I thought it sounded exactly what I was looking for. I love working with all the dogs ,making sure their days are full of fun and they enjoy themselves.

Hi I’m Meaghann

Dog Handler

While I was studying animal management at BCA I had the amazing opportunity to come and do work experience at Claires Comfy Canines in 2020. I enjoyed it so much I knew I wanted to come back and be a part of the team.

Ever since I was little, I’ve always had a love for dogs but lived with cats up until earlier this year when I got my 2 dogs Arlo & Gizmo which are both Cava-Tzu’s.

Since working here and CCC’s I’ve learned so much about puppy’s and dogs which I never knew before mainly focusing on diet, exercise, emotions, body language etc. but I’m glad to now have the knowledge and ongoing training needed to continue helping the dogs the best I possibly can.

Hi I am Chris

Dog Handler & Operations Supervisor

I have always loved animals especially dogs. Having not grown up with any, I always had to get my fix from the neighbours or my great nan who used to walk and look after people's dogs. I always wanted to work with animals.

So in 2020 I decided to follow my dream and restart my education by returning to college to ultimately gain a level 2 qualification in Animal Care from Tiggywinkles animal hospital.

I have always been fascinated by dog behaviour, body language and training. I love reading about behaviour and training and I am currently reading “How to inspire resilience in your reactive or fearful dog”.

I have always felt a special connection to animals, they show the perfect example of how to live in the moment. I have a bearded dragon at home and have lived with dogs in the past, including Labradors and a bull mastiff.

Working at Claires Comfy Canines is a dream come true for me, I am not sure if me or the dogs are happier to be here. I am learning so much here and am loving getting to know the team and all the dogs. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than giving them a fun and fulfilling day.

I have always adored animals in every way since I can remember, I’ve been very lucky to have been able to own many kinds ranging from rats to horses but when it comes to my favourite dogs have always won my heart over. I’ve had a total of 4 border collies in the past which I’ve participated in agility, obedience and dabbled in scent work! My current furbaby is a husky x american akita that I rescued and I love more than anything.

I previously worked in a family run pet shop but when i saw the opportunity to work for Claire I took it and ran with it! I am so grateful to be apart of the family. I love working with all of the dogs and making sure that they have the best time while in our care.

Hi I am Charlotte

I recently graduated from university with a degree in criminology and criminal justice. However, I knew I wanted to pursue my education in dog training and work with dogs as I couldn’t get it out of my head while at college and university! So I began my IMDT journey to become a dog trainer three weeks after I graduated uni. I am a member of the IMDT (Institute of modern dog trainers) having completed my level 3 Principles of Dog Training and Behaviour. 

When the opportunity came up to work at Claire’s Comfy Canines I thought it would be perfect to gain experience and learn from everyone as well as the large variety of dogs! Ever since I can remember I have always loved animals and wanted a dog of my own especially a greyhound! I had to settle for looking after family friends dogs until I was 16 when I got my first puppy, Mongoose a huge lurcher.

I carried on looking after dogs and started gaining clients on a regular basis and began my own dog walking and pet sitting business along side studying at college and uni.

I was loving training my dog and became obsessed with all aspects of dog training especially scent work, until my dog became chronically ill and thus became extremely reactive to other dogs when he was in pain.

I then started to learn about reactivity in dogs and pain management. For the last four years i have advocated and educated anyone who will listen about reactivity and fear aggression in dogs. I also added a saluki pup to continue my collection of sight hounds
